Effects of Cognitive-Behavioral Group Program for Maladjusted Students

Abstract
This study is aimed to verify the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral group counseling which was conducted for students having problems in school maladjustment. The subjects are voluntary 20 middle school students in Daejeon Metropolitan City, ranging form the first graders to third graders. The group counseling was conducted for 4 weeks, twice a week, and each counseling took about 90 minutes, with a researcher and an aid researcher attending. To find our the effects of the program, we used degrees of school adjustment, interpersonal skills and anger management. The date compiled in the research was used in analysing demographics change frequency. And also to know the difference in scores between pre- and post-tests, we conducted paired t-test, and interpreted it by the program SPSS 19.0. The following is a summary of this study. First, the experimental group attending the cognitive-behavioral group counseling showed some differences in school maladjustment. Second, the experimental group also showed some differences in anger compared with the control group. Third, the experimental group also showed some diffenences in interpersonal skills, compared with the control group.
